The Yard is the area in which Cats visit. When first playing the game, the Yard is the Classic Style/Original Style 1, with only the outdoors section being available with five spaces to place Small Goodies. Two of the five spaces can be used to place a Large Goody instead.

In Neko Atsume 2, the starting Yard can be chosen between two options, Original Style 1 or Original Style 2.

Yard Expansion

The Yard can expand to twice the size by purchasing the Yard Expansion for 180 in the Shop. In Neko Atsume 2, it can also be purchased for 5000 . When the Yard Expansion has been purchased, there are also two food bowls available. When one of the food bowls is empty, Cats will only visit the side with the filled food bowl.

Remodel

The Remodel feature allows the player to change the Style and layout of the Yard. It is unlocked with the purchase of the Expansion. In Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector, Remodels cost 280, but there is a 50% Discount on the player's first purchase. For Neko Atsume 2, the Remodels cost either 300 or 15,000 . There is a 50% Discount on the player's first purchase, and the other Original Style Yard will be 50% off compared to the other remodels.

Each Remodel has a different aesthetic design and slightly different placements for Goodies. Small decorations in the background may change depending on the season. Once a Remodel style is bought, it can freely be switched to and from.

In Neko Atsume 2, the Cat's Club subscription opens up a third section of the Yard once the Yard Expansion has been purchased. This section is exclusively for Myneko(s).

The borders between the inside and outside vary with each Remodel.^[1]
Typically, the left side of the Yard is indoors and the right side is outside.
- The Zen Style is the only Remodel where the outside is on the left and the indoors is on the right.
- The Cafe Style and the SoftBank Shop are the only Remodels that are completely indoors. However, the right side still acts as the "outside".
